Terms of Use
Established: 2026-09-18 / Revised: 2026-09-20 (product renamed to TwoTile), 2026-10-12 (added Vector as an official download source), 2026-10-21 (changed the Vector link to the software’s description page), 2026-10-26 (added this English reference translation) / Applies to: TwoTile 1.0.9 (Microsoft Store version and portable version)
This is a reference translation. The Japanese version of these Terms of Use is the official one. If this translation and the Japanese version differ, the Japanese version prevails (§13).
This document hasn’t been reviewed by a lawyer or any other professional. We prepared it ourselves, as the terms for software that an individual distributes free of charge.
TwoTile (the “Software”) is provided by poola-vii (an individual living in Japan; “we” or “us”). By downloading, installing, or using the Software, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you don’t agree, don’t use the Software, and delete it.
1. License
Subject to these Terms of Use, we grant you a free, non-exclusive license to use the Software. You may use it for personal or business purposes, on any number of PCs.
This license allows you to use the Software. It doesn’t assign any rights in the Software, such as copyright, to you.
2. Public beta
The Software is a public beta. It isn’t a stable release.
- Its features may change, it may stop working, and we may stop distributing it, without notice.
- It hasn’t been tested in many environments. See Known Issues.
- Before you use it for important work, make sure it works without problems in your environment.
3. What you must not do
- Use the Software for any purpose that violates laws or regulations
- Remove or change the Software’s rights notices or the text of these Terms of Use
- Make it appear that the Software was made by anyone other than us
- Modify the Software and distribute the result as the Software
4. Redistribution
The official download sources of the Software are the Microsoft Store, https://github.com/poola-vii/TwoTile-releases, and Vector (https://www.vector.co.jp/soft/winnt/util/se529849.html). Vector has only some versions, so the version on Vector isn’t always the latest. Check the official site (https://poola-vii.github.io/twotile/) to see which version is the latest.
When you tell others about the Software, give them an official download source instead of the file. If they get it from an official source, they can check that it’s genuine and get new versions. Give them the file only when they can’t use an official source.
When you don’t need our permission
You don’t need our permission to distribute the Software within your organization or to hand it from one individual to another, as long as you pass it on exactly as you got it, without modification.
This permission comes from us. Follow the rules of your workplace or other organization on whether you may use the Software there.
When you need our permission
To distribute the Software in any other way, get our permission first through the support contact. This includes listing it on software download sites, adding it to a package manager, and making it available where anyone can get it. We won’t unreasonably refuse. This condition exists to keep many people from receiving modified or outdated copies without knowing it.
What you must do when you distribute it
Whether or not you need our permission, when you distribute the Software, you must do the following, so that recipients can learn the official download sources and these Terms of Use:
- Distribute it exactly as you got it, without modification
- Include these Terms of Use, the Privacy Policy, and the Third-Party Notices
- Show the official download sources
- Have recipients agree to these Terms of Use (including the disclaimer of warranties in §5 and the limitation of liability in §6)
Getting and using the Microsoft Store version is also subject to the Microsoft Store’s terms.
5. No warranty
The Software is provided “as is.” We make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including that:
- The Software is fit for your purpose
- The Software works correctly or without interruption
- The Software is free of defects, or that defects will be fixed
- The Software doesn’t infringe the rights of third parties
6. Limitation of liability
We aren’t liable for any damages arising from the use of, or inability to use, the Software. This includes loss of work, business interruption, lost profits, and loss of data. This applies even if we were told such damages were possible.
However, this doesn’t apply if we acted intentionally or with gross negligence. This section also doesn’t apply to the extent it is invalid under Japan’s Consumer Contract Act or other mandatory laws. In that case, our liability is limited to the minimum extent the law allows.
The Software is provided free of charge. We include this section because we receive nothing in return from you.
7. Third-party software
The Software includes software made by third parties. Each is subject to the terms set by its provider. See the Third-Party Notices.
About the .NET runtime and libraries
The Software includes the .NET runtime and libraries provided by Microsoft Corporation. They are subject to the .NET Library License. You agree to the following about them:
- Microsoft makes no warranties about them and isn’t liable for any damages (treated the same as §5 and §6 above).
- You won’t reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble them (except to the extent applicable law expressly permits it).
- You won’t use or distribute them in any way the license above prohibits.
- If you redistribute the Software under §4, you must have recipients agree to terms that protect Microsoft and the .NET runtime and libraries at least as much as this section does.
8. Support
The scope and limits of support are as set out in Support. We have no obligation to provide support.
9. Personal information
Personal information is handled as set out in the Privacy Policy. The Software doesn’t communicate over the network, and we don’t collect information about you.
10. Changes to these Terms of Use
We may change these Terms of Use. The changed terms apply from the time they are posted at the download source and on the official site. If you keep using the Software after a change, you agree to the changed terms.
11. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms of Use are governed by and interpreted under the laws of Japan.
Any dispute between you and us about the Software or these Terms of Use is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Japan as the court of first instance.
12. Severability
If any provision of these Terms of Use is found invalid or unenforceable, the other provisions remain in effect.
13. Language
The Japanese version of these Terms of Use is the official one. This English reference translation is provided to help you understand them. If the Japanese version and this translation differ, the Japanese version prevails.
